Common things people ask.
- What happens after the 14-day trial?
- Your card is charged the monthly or annual rate you picked at checkout. You can cancel any time from inside the app (Settings → Subscription) — cancelling before day 14 means you're not charged at all.
- Can I use the app without a subscription?
- Yes. The Free tier covers everything that doesn't call AI: Tasks, Calendar, Budget (manual entry), Health, Notes, and the encrypted Password Vault. You only need Pro for AI features.
- Where is my data stored?
- Locally, in an encrypted SQLite database in your user folder. The Password Vault is additionally encrypted with AES-256-GCM under a master password you choose. Nothing in the app syncs to the cloud unless you opt in to AI features, in which case only the specific text you ask about is sent to the AI provider through our proxy.
- What if I forget my master password for the vault?
- We can't recover it. The vault is encrypted under a key derived from your master password — if you lose it, the data is unreadable. We recommend writing it down somewhere safe outside the app.
- Can I get a refund?
- Yes — within 30 days of your first paid charge, email rafael@laiyer8.com for a full refund. No questions asked.
- What's the difference between Personal Assistant and the AI Receptionist?
- Personal Assistant is for individuals — runs on your Mac or Windows laptop, manages your day. AI Receptionist is for businesses — handles incoming calls and bookings for local shops, doctors, dentists. Different products, same intelligence layer.
